June 4, 2018
Another one gone by. Well another quick week! I can't believe it's already June! This transfer has been going by pretty fast I'm not going to lie. I'm already in week 5 with my comp I feel like he just came! It's a good thing though for sure. Means we are staying busy I guess. Some days feel like forever but then I look back a couple weeks later thinking it was yesterday ahha. I truly see so many miracles everyday, some days we start off with nothing on our schedule but to find new people to teach and we almost always end up having something come up or being able to teach a lesson. It's is a big blessing as it makes time go by so much faster!! I love serving and I know it's exactly what I'm supposed to be doing but it's always good to have lots to do to make the time fly haha . I had the opportunity to study up on miracles and came across some amazing ones in the scriptures and had some in my life this past week. I found this in the guide to the scriptures "Miracles are an important element in the work of Jesus Christ... Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith is necessary in order for miracles to be manifested.". I love that, this gospel is a gospel of miracles and we can expect them as we exercise faith and put forth the work to put ourselves in a place where we can experience miracles. The scriptures always say it best "For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith." (2 Nephi 27:23). This is a great scripture as it proves God still participates in the practice of miracles here on this earth! God is "The same yesterday, today, and forever", so if there was miracles in the past they are still happening and will continue to happen. So because I was just wanting to make sure there were miracles in the past, I started to search if I could think of any miracles in MY life or in the scriptures. One that popped into my head right away that I am sure alot of us have heard of and or are very familiar with is Moses parting the Red Sea. The bible dictionary explains it well and says "Between Egypt and Arabia. Probably best known because it was miraculously parted so that the Israelites under Mosesβ leadership could pass through on dry ground, whereas the armies of Pharaoh were drowned". As that short description says "it was miraculously parted" not a coincidence... I repeat not a coincidence. So we can now see God does still produce miracles as we have the faith. Ether 12:12 says "For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.". So we learn from this passage and from the example of Moses that faith is a key component of miracles. So when people say miracles don't happen you can tell them they are very wrong hahahahaha. I'll share an experience of a miracle that happened this week for me. We had one of those days where we pretty much had contacting (finding people to teach on the street) from 11am to around 4:30pm....I was kinda like-O man this might be a LONG day haha. Well about two hours into finding downtown Waterloo my companion and I decide to go to this park that is about a five minute walk just to check it out and see if there was anyone we could talk to there. As we were walking through this park we ran into a sweet guy we ran into about a month earlier in a completely different spot! He has been struggling with drugs such has LSD, Mushrooms and so on. He is about 2 years older then me and honestly is the coolest guy ever. He loves to skate (skateboard) and that's what he said got him into the bad seen he is trying to get out of now. As we started to talk to him we decided to invite him to do some service with us that we do every Thursday. He was so pumped and excited to be able to have a good excuse to get out of his bad environment he is in at the moment. If that's not a miracle that we ran into him again I don't know what is. Kitchener Waterloo area is over a couple hundred thousand people!!!! We ran into the exact same guy who needed help at that exact time... that's not a coincidence! Miracles do still happen and do not stop happening in our lives when we have faith and want to help and serve others. Anyone. I can name so many more but I won't because its getting hard to type haha π€. But I invite all of you to recognize and think of the miracles in your life and write them down. As we look back and think of all these miracles we will truly see God's hand in all of our lives at sometime or another. If by chance you can't think of any, go and put yourselves where you CAN make miracles happen and have faith that it will happen and I promise you, you will start to recognize these amazing experiences. Well keep it real, love you all and keep being awesome π€
Surprise, we got transfer calls! I'll be leaving and heading to the heart of downtown Toronto. I will now be in the Toronto YSA ward and training a brand new missionary for my last transfer. Super hyped I am staying in the city and probably going to my dream area to end ahh....well this past transfer was pretty close to my dream area as well haha. It was another extremely bumping week. We were able to find 5 new, have 3 at church and three on date for baptism!! It is for sure bitter sweet but I know God has some crazy amazing things in store for Toronto YSA and us. This past week was sweet as my companion and I legit felt like celebrities . We honestly had five or six people either come up to us or over hear us talking to someone else and want to hear more about the powerful message of the Restored Gospel. This truly shows me the power that comes from the message we have a great priviledge to share...let me emphasize it's not us it is the message we share! It is becau...
Well Peterborough is sweet. My new comp is from southern California and got to Canada this past week. We have had to walk a ton as the last Elders left no kms on our car. So for the past three days we have only walked, which has been intresting. Good though as we aren't working with a lot of people yet as it's only been a week. But miracles are happening already for our diligence and hard work. We have got two people on date for baptism on Nov.25 so that is extremely exciting. We were able to find 3 new people this week who we started teaching and got some more appointments this week which will hopefully turn into new people we get to teach. Theres a lot of uni students as there is a college and uni in this city of only 80,000 so it's been fun talking to a lot of them. A lot of them are really open and enthusiastic about God which is super cool to see Haha. This week there was a scripture that really stood out to me in Mormon 9:31 which reads "Condemn me not...
Well transfers happened and I will be staying another here. But will be training a new missionary so that will be a new and exciting experience for sure. It is crazy to think its been six more weeks and now am going on 12 weeks here in St. Thomas. We have some super solid people so Im so excited to see them progress. For sure am pumped to see what comes from this next six weeks here. We were able to find a really awesome family to start teaching from knocking the other day before a dinner appointment. That family I'm very excited for. Another lady with three kids we found this week. She was in a rough situation and so she just got out of a bad place and now is really looking for comfort. We taught her once and she is very receptive and truly felt the spirit. Another one is that door a couple weeks ago we felt prompted to knock on is progressing and should be coming out to church next week!! Then of course we have a 9 year old on date for baptism in Oct. Which is so exciting! So the...
