May 20, 2019 Another transfer..still in Sudbury...Lessons on comparing

Image
Well it's a new transfer, but still with the same companion from West Africa. Work is still going super great. Grateful as I was able to help baptize a lady in our zone because they needed an extra priesthood holder. Well something I found super interesting that we talked about yesterday in church was the parable of the labours in the vineyard (Matthew 20). I for sure have heard it lots and have even read through it but this time it really made me think. In regards to this parable there was an extremely amazing talk about it by Elder Holland "First of all it is important to note that no one has been treated unfairly here. The first workers agreed to the full wage of the day, and they received it. Furthermore, they were, I can only imagine, very grateful to get the work. In the time of the Savior, an average man and his family could not do much more than live on what they made that day. If you didn’t work or farm or fish or sell, you likely didn’t eat. With mor

Exciting times here in Sudbury with our baptism this past week and some great progress with a tone of people we are meeting with. Honestly God has blessed us to find and teach so many amazing people these past couple months being here in Sudbury! It has really re-emphasize the power of God putting people in our path that are prepared. I'll give you and example from this week. We had an appointment around noon so we decided to knock doors from 11-12pm on Tuesday. We were able to have some super solid conversations and with in 20min we ran into a very special lady. Her desire to learn was extraordinary, I know God prepared her for us. We asked if she would be comfortable if we shared a message with her right then and there. She accepted and we sat on her steps while we taught her the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we taught, things clicked for her. She was fascinated as we shared why we believe there are so many churches and that because we have a loving Father in He

May 6/19..honestly say this might have been one the busiest weeks of my mission!..Recognize these 2 missionaries from home?

I can honestly say this might have been one of the busiest weeks of my mission! We had zone Conference up close to Toronto, I had an exchange with one of the Elders in my zone and a baptism on Saturday! Plus it was actually super nice majority of the days! So all around was a extremely extraordinary week. The landscape out here is super interesting Haha. All rocks and forest. Kinda cool but really dont understand how they have built so much as it legit is rock every where you look 🤣. Well I'll tell you a little about the baptism. It was a 21 year old guy who was referred to us by a recent convert of about a year now. The one that got baptized as soon as I met him I knew he was going to progress well!! I asked so do you have any religious background, his response was I'm in between Mormon (this was before we taught him we aren't Mormons but members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter days Saints ahha) and Catholicism. In my head I started to freak out and was beyond

April 29 Baptism and finding new investigators=SWEEET!

Hey everyone!!! So not going to lie this week was full or a lot of driving....and crazy miracles Haha. Honestly I don't know how or why but we are finding and teaching so many solid people. I'm so grateful for the wonderful people of Sudbury, to be honest generally the nicest people I have met on my mission as a whole. So I can start off by sharing one of the miracles from this week. Monday night we decided to go knocking doors. We had to quickly swing by a members Monday night to drop some stuff off so we decided to find a place close to them to knock. We found a complex of about 60 houses and for some reason decided to start at the very back...which honestly did make a lot of sense but we both thought it was a good idea. Well let me tell you that was the spirit leading us to a row of prepared people 🤣 . Within about 15 houses we had three return appointments/phone numbers!!! One of them being a single mother that had just moved from the Bahamas about a year ago. She has two

April 22, 2019 Easter

So honestly we had another solid week. It's been consistently pretty nice here so that's sweet!!! Got to teach lots this week so that was super great, honestly everything is going so well. It was super nice being able to be out here on the mission for my second Easter. Really makes you think a lot more about the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ as you are out talking about Him daily. As well as bearing your witness of His ultimate, supreme and all atoning sacrifice that was made for each of us! His loved brother and sisters. How can you not be grateful for that? How can you not want that? I know I sure do. But this is because I have prayed, experienced and applied this in my own life. It would be understandable if you have never tried to ask for forgiveness or ultimately change from old ways that where wrong. But if you do I know you can and would feel the same way I feel about Jesus Christ. So why not see if you have the same feelings? Honestly this is exactly wh

Hey everyone! It's finally getting warmer so that's a score! Well another week full of learning, growing and crazy sweet miracles. I'll start by telling one. So we were having a super solid week and out of no where we get a text message. It was an online referral for a Bible and Book of Mormon. So we were pretty hyped and we phoned her up and set up a time to drop by. We then returned the next day to drop it off. As we were talking to her and explained what we do as missionaries she was extremely excited to hear that we share messages about Christ. By this point I felt so good about her. But what happens next was insane and for sure leads me to believe God put us in her path to help you find truth. So in the middle of our conversation she stops us. Goes quiet for a second and asks....do you baptize by full immersion? We responded yes....then she says do you do it with the authority Jesus Christ had? We said we believe we do yes. Then this next part is where it gets real! Sh

April 8, 2019 Still in Sudbury with a new companion from South Africa..& some fancy bathroom!!

Well another transfer has begun and a new companion! He will becoming up tomorrow night so I'm pretty pumped. He is from the Ivory Coast so that will be sick to experience living with someone from Africa Haha. Honestly the work keeps getting better and better though. Legit God is blessing us so much. We were able to put another younger guy on date for baptism for May 4th. So that will now hopefully be 3 in May now! Honestly have built such a great testimony that as we do all we can we will be blessed with people people to teach and feel that God is truly proud. This is how I see it "“Sometimes the spirit of revelation will operate immediately and intensely, other times subtly and gradually, and often so delicately you may not even consciously recognize it. But regardless of the pattern whereby this blessing is received, the light it provides will illuminate and enlarge your soul, enlighten your understanding"(What Can I do to Receive Answers from God). I see i

April 1/19 Mission life is going super well-At the beginning...now I...

April is here what the!!! Its starting to get a little warmer to so that's a tender mercy ahah. Had to drive to Brampton again this past week so um that took up two days of my week for another Leadership conference. Again is super uplifting and motivating though and am grateful for them. They actually touched on being Finishers in the Gospel and our missions and it resonated with me a lot. I know I still have 7 months but for sure some days it can be easy to justify taking it slower because I'm starting to get tired or what ever it may be. It really made me think about making sure I give it 120% all the time no matter what! For sure learned to work hard back home but the principle of working hard is being put to the test daily as I go out so I'm super glad I had that instilled in me growing up. It has really blessed me as a missionary. Was studying this week and came across this jem. "Life offers you two precious gifts. One is time, the other, freedom of choice—the

Mar 25, 2019 Lead by the spirit to park instead of drive-this happens ALL the time!

Crazy week as per usual. Had to drive to Toronto (4hrs without traffic...) for another meeting. This one was a zone conference with a hole bunch of other missionaries. It was super motivating to be honest. It was really focused on recognizing the spirit. As I studied this topic the week before something really stood out to me. "When righteous patterns and spiritual yearnings join, time and eternity come together. Spiritual light and life come when regular religious observance draws us closer to our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ."(Our Campfire of Faith October 2018). After readying this through some thoughts that came to my mind were, find ways to sacrifice to be more worthy of the spirit. The spirit is powerful and can bring so much peace. I know those two things are key to being close to the spirit. In missionary work without the spirit honestly nothing we teach is nearly as powerful or impactful in the peoples lives. It's pretty cool as I have come to see

March 18, 2019 Discussion with blind investigator..and a baptism!

Image
Hey!!! Well another frosty week in Sudbury but was filled with some great memories and miracles. We actually found and started teaching a blind guy. He got in a bad accident a couple years ago and found himself without any eye sight. He was a super good skateboarder and snowboarder before! Honestly one of the most insanely inspiring guys I've ever met. He lives on His own and we actually found him just catching some fresh air outside of his apartment. He showed us how he does his own laundry , cooks, texts us back and so on. Just all around inspiring and humbling experience to see how even someone with these physical ailments still can be self sufficient and motivated to do more! We had some super solid lessons with him already and put him on date for baptism. Unfortunately he might be moving to his cousin's soon which is out of our area. So well have to send the missionaries over to continue to teach him at his cousins place which is fine. Just super pumped I had the o
