Mar 25, 2019 Lead by the spirit to park instead of drive-this happens ALL the time!
Crazy week as per usual. Had to drive to Toronto (4hrs without traffic...) for another meeting. This one was a zone conference with a hole bunch of other missionaries. It was super motivating to be honest. It was really focused on recognizing the spirit. As I studied this topic the week before something really stood out to me. "When righteous patterns and spiritual yearnings join, time and eternity come together. Spiritual light and life come when regular religious observance draws us closer to our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ."(Our Campfire of Faith October 2018). After readying this through some thoughts that came to my mind were, find ways to sacrifice to be more worthy of the spirit. The spirit is powerful and can bring so much peace. I know those two things are key to being close to the spirit. In missionary work without the spirit honestly nothing we teach is nearly as powerful or impactful in the peoples lives. It's pretty cool as I have come to see our role as missionaries is to create an environment where the spirit can be felt. Just as it says here. “True conversion comes through the power of the Spirit. When the Spirit touches the heart, hearts are changed. When individuals … feel the Spirit working with them, or when they see the evidence of the Lord’s love and mercy in their lives, they are edified and strengthened spiritually and their faith in Him increases. These experiences with the Spirit follow naturally when a person is willing to experiment upon the word. This is how we come to feel the gospel is true” (“Now Is the Time,” Ensign, Nov. 2000, 75)."(PMG PG98). So just as that says the spirit is the one that confirms that what we share is true. I for sure have seen on my mission as I try to rely on my talents to teach or find people to teach it's way less effective. As I turn to trying to know what God wants me to say and relying on His power things go so much better. Really humbles me to be honest
. But at the same time I am so very grateful for the talents God has given me to use me as an instrument to do His work. A kinda cool experience that happened in regards to follow the spirit was we were driving to a dinner appointment right after a lesson yesterday. The dinner was pretty close to where we live so we decided to park are car and walk over instead of knocking some doors before we headed in as we had about 15min before we planned to have dinner there. As we were walking we stopped to talk to this man. His first words were I have been pretty interested in learning about your church honestly. My companion and I smiled and went all to tell him we actually meet with people and share more. We got his number and will be meeting with him later this week. I know that we were led by the spirit to walk instead of knocking. Both would have been good but the best was to find this man! God truly puts people in our path to find. We were blessed to have found 5 new people this week to teach as well as got 4 people to church. I know that's not because my companion and I are some amazingly good preacher of the word. Rather the spirit is touching hearts and helping them see what we share can in some way bless there lives! So anyway super cool experience as we rely on the spirit rather then ourselves. Legit this happens all the time and its super cool. There is no way it just happens by accident it is planned out by God and I know it ahha. Been warming up here in Sudbury so that's sweet. I heard it's insanely warm back home so you are lucky as heck Haha. Well love you guys and hope you have a great week!!
