March 18, 2019 Discussion with blind investigator..and a baptism!

Hey!!! Well another frosty week in Sudbury but was filled with some great memories and miracles. We actually found and started teaching a blind guy. He got in a bad accident a couple years ago and found himself without any eye sight. He was a super good skateboarder and snowboarder before! Honestly one of the most insanely inspiring guys I've ever met. He lives on His own and we actually found him just catching some fresh air outside of his apartment. He showed us how he does his own laundry , cooks, texts us back and so on. Just all around inspiring and humbling experience to see how even someone with these physical ailments still can be self sufficient and motivated to do more! We had some super solid lessons with him already and put him on date for baptism. Unfortunately he might be moving to his cousin's soon which is out of our area. So well have to send the missionaries over to continue to teach him at his cousins place which is fine. Just super pumped I had the opportunity to teach and meet him. This past Saturday was a great experience as well as we had a baptism. The spirit was so strong there. It is always great to see and perform baptisms as they remind me of the promise I have made with God. I for sure have gained a better understanding now of the promises I have made with God since I have been out on my mission. Honestly I am extremely grateful for the opportunity make promise/covenants with God as it brings us closer to Him. As well as really helps me check myself and make sure I'm living up to these promises I have made with Him. Going along these lines I read through a talk from last General Conference (a big world wide conference the church puts on twice a year where we here from our apostles and prophet) called "Our Campfire of Faith". It says "When righteous patterns and spiritual yearnings join, time and eternity come together. Spiritual light and life come when regular religious observance draws us closer to our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. When we love the spirit and letter of the law, the things of eternity can distill upon our souls like the dews from heaven. With daily obedience and refreshing living water, we find answers, faith, and strength to meet everyday challenges and opportunities with gospel patience, perspective, and joy.". I can really see how this applies to missionaries and those at home. We have the commandments to guide us in the right direction and the spirit to determine what we need to do to be within these guide lines. I love viewing commandments that we have been given as guides. Not rules or a list that we have to follow but blessing to help us to return. When we have the perspective of these commandments are here as blessings we feel as humans they aren't their to restrict us but to edify us we are more obliged to follow them. I feel that this is when we start doing things out of love instead of duty, fear, or even out of gain. Many people do this and this is ok for a time but it is so much more joyful as we find ways to love instead of fear or any other reason. I've really tried to find ways to make sure I love. I for sure am not at the point that I love everything but I do feel joy and I do feel way more of a love then I ever have. I know this is all God expects. He knows things will be harder for some and easier for some but as we strive to be better we will be blessed. God wants us to return home so he will bless us as we are obedient to him through making promises and working at the things we need to change for the better. We are so blessed this is possible through Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He has made for each one of us. We just need to apply it and learn from it. This is what I have an opportunity to share every day. I can tell you with out a doubt that what I am doing is the most important and meaningful thing I have done in my hole life. It's hard as heck but God didn't design this life to be easy or we would learn...plus it would probably be a lot less exciting/thrilling haha. But ye ye thats what I got to say today 🤣👌. It is slowly getting a little warmer but dropped down to feeling like -18 today....ugh summer can't come quick enough 😝. Anyway love you all and hope you have a great week!!!!💎👑
