October 29, 2018 New Area. New companion.
Well Peterborough is sweet. My new comp is from southern California and got to Canada this past week. We have had to walk a ton as the last Elders left no kms on our car. So for the past three days we have only walked, which has been intresting. Good though as we aren't working with a lot of people yet as it's only been a week. But miracles are happening already for our diligence and hard work. We have got two people on date for baptism on Nov.25 so that is extremely exciting. We were able to find 3 new people this week who we started teaching and got some more appointments this week which will hopefully turn into new people we get to teach. Theres a lot of uni students as there is a college and uni in this city of only 80,000 so it's been fun talking to a lot of them. A lot of them are really open and enthusiastic about God which is super cool to see Haha. This week there was a scripture that really stood out to me in Mormon 9:31 which reads "Condemn me not because of mine imperfection, neither my father, because of his imperfection, neither them who have written before him; but rather give thanks unto God that he hath made manifest unto you our imperfections, that ye may learn to be more wise than we have been.". This scripture through my mission has slowly become more real to me. I have truly found myself learning so much from my imperfections and slowly learning to strive to work on those specific things. There are so many great people around us we can learn so much from as well. Including our own selves. Many times we see how others treat a situation and can learn a lot on how we want to face a similar situation a little better. It helps us become better leaders, children of God and members of the Church/other organizations. As we humble ourselves we can not only learn from these wrong doings of others but help them as well. This is a reoccuring theme as we teach others. Many times they don't realize what they are doing is against Gods commandments, but as we point out this imperfection they knew not of they can change it. This can only be done in a loving way though. If done for any other reason it is wrong! It's just been crazy to see the difference analyzing myself and others and learning so much. I have for sure never done this in my life specifically to better myself as a person. I have done it for sports or school but never personally. I for sure have learned a lot and continue to. Don't get me wrong though I am not even close to good at it Haha. I for sure still am kinda bad at making sure I change curtain things but I am for sure striving to become better at it. Which is all our Heavenly Father has asked of us. Its important to understand that "Jesus did not eliminate our personal responsibility"(PMG pg61) though. We always still need to be striving for our best selves. One way I'm doing this is by convincing myself that snow is good hahaha. It was the first snow fall thank goodness it's all gone but it's starting to get so cold! I don't like it as much as people aren't as out and about. Plus kinda a little more salty 🤣. But it's all good. Kinda cool experience from last night was we were out talking to people downtown late at night. There was this mom bringing her kids in and she looked busy so I kinda felt bad as I asked her if we could share a card with her. She then said no thank you kindly and we turned to start walking away. Then seconds later she said: wait no! I want one. We then explained we share a message about how families can be together forever. She was touched and we will see where that goes..just is very cool as she feels the spirit it made her realize this might be something she wants in her life. We have so many great stories like that and we are so blessed to have them. I hope you are
