Hope everyone had a wonderful week I love you all!! I had a great week. To be honest, at first when I started to look back on our week I was kinda disappointed because I felt like we didn't accomplish as much as normal. I say this because we weren't able to find any new people to teach. But as I was thinking about it, my companion and I had so much success, we were able to give so many people the chance as we went out to hear our message plus we are teaching a lot of people already so just because we didn't find anyone new this week we were still able to strengthen many peoples faith in Christ as well as do lots of service! I think I have shared this scripture but I'll share it again because it is so true and applicable to what we do out here as missionaries, Mosiah 2:17 "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.". I love that because as long as I am working hard and helping others even if they don't except our message or our help we are still serving God and that's what counts πŸ€˜!! It is so awesome being out here. Every day you learn something new. As missionaries we stand out like a sore thumb because we are two young men wearing white shirts and ties with name tag going up to people talking about Jesus Christ and how he can bring so much happiness and joy into all of our lives. I was reading in one of my personal studies a talk by Priesdent Monson who was our prophet before he died just a couple months ago. He recited this poem in a talk he gave in October 2015, it reads "I met a stranger in the night whose lamp had ceased to shine. I paused and let him light his lamp from mine. A tempest sprang up later on and shook the world about. And when the wind was gone my lamp was out! But back to me the stranger cameβ€”His lamp was glowing fine! He held the precious flame and lighted mine!". As I read that poem I can't help but think we need to be that person as the world gets shook up and so much negativity and evil flaunting around. With that lamp we can start even a spark in that next persons lamp that just went out. As we are going around everyday talking to random people and teaching people I feel I get to do that on a daily basis. Even if it's just a little spark I feel that our message of Christ and about His atoning sacrifice for all of us and it helps others re-ignite that flame as many people have been shook and are now lost because their lamps have burnt out. As I do this, it's awesome to see my lamp get brighter and brighter and as you all serve in your different capacities I know you can have the same thing happen to you πŸ”₯! So do it!  Go out and help others because even if you feel they didn't appreciate it or didn't want your help if you volunteer to help, you are able to help your flame grow as well as start that spark in others!!! Well I hope that made a little sense hahaha. But it's so true and it is hard at times to feel like I am doing a lot out here when you are rejected constantly but as I think of it that way it makes me smile to know I am actually making a difference!!!! Well this week's weather for sure was a plus. Most days were above plus 6, but lots of rain down here hahaha. Today we are going hiking again so that should be really fun (nothing like hiking in Alberta tho....πŸ˜‚). Anyway hope you all have a wonderful week and to spark someone else's lamp or in someone and make yours brighter. Love ya Elder Fibke πŸ€˜πŸ”₯πŸ‘‘πŸ‘Œ
Note from the Mom: No-he's not on a hiking trip for 2 years haha-I think he just takes pictures on his P-days and it seems like he does alot of hiking on these days!!
