Aug 18-first week back in the city has been beyond amazing haha...
Well this week flew by. The first week back in the city has been beyond amazing haha. Had to do a lot of driving around to get things situated with the zone but also had a lot of time to go out and find some new people. It's crazy how fast you can connect and share about the Gospel on a bus or waiting at a bus stop! Already seen some crazy sweet miracles and the hand of God in His work. One was at a bus stop about 4 days ago. Since we focus on YSA (18-30) we get to meet some pretty sweet people. One of which is a girl that just graduated from York University and is 22. She was just sitting at a bus stop and I decided to go up and sit beside her. We got talking and she opened right up. She had been struggling with finding a job, wants a new apartment and that had been stressing her out a lot. I was able to share how much the Gospel has brought stability and a peace of mind in my life. She agreed to meet the next day to talk a little more. Fast forward to the next day we were able to share the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and committed her to a baptismal date for September 21!!! The spirit was able to really confirm the truths that we were sharing and she was able to take a leap of faith by committing to a date to work towards. This is a great example of Alma 32:21 "And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.". We won't know everything but we know enough. This principle I feel has really been able to influence me a lot in my mission and help me gain a testimony of things I never thought I would. Acting in faith at first many times is required but as we do we will be able to come to a better understanding of why we do what we do. Also being able to understand that this is key to are learning and our agency brings me a lot of comfort that we are supposed to act in faith. "Learning by faith and from experience are two of the central features of the Father’s plan of happiness. The Savior preserved moral agency through the Atonement and made it possible for us to act and to learn by faith. Lucifer’s rebellion against the plan sought to destroy the agency of man, and his intent was that we as learners would only be acted upon." (Seek Learning by Faith). So if it takes some acting in Faith to know truth...you can know that's part of God's plan and you shouldn't feel bad that you don't know yet! But that doesn't mean give up haha, keep at it and I promise God will help you understand or at least come to an understanding of the importance of it to some degree. Anyway it's been super sweet out here. We found a lot of people in the past little bit so we should have some really solid teaching appointments this week. It's been hot as heck up in the city which is awesome! Doing super well and am grateful for this time to be out here. Hope everyone has an awesome week!!
